Well Mopar 10 number 246 is finally in my garage and what a trip its had. (Red stripe Auto).
From Bosak Dodge (who were absolutely fantastic and I recommend them to anyone, Sherry was my sales person and top marks) it was delayed with transportation due to blizzards, finally shipped to LA for export to New Zealand.
A few weeks on the water and the container arrived in New Zealand on the 21st February.
Due to hold ups (I think Paperwork issues on other goods) the car was not released for collection from the shipping agent until Tuesday 8th April. The excitement of having the car in New Zealand and frustration of not being able to collect it was unbearable. However when I received the phone call at 3.45pm that the car could be collected before 5pm if I could make it, it was a very quick call to a friend and a very fast trip to the shipping agent who was just over a hour away from my place of residence. We made it with 10 min to spare (so needless to say the speed limit may not always have been observed).
The car looked a million dollars despite being very dirty form its trip.
Taking the back roads home due to necessity, the car was garaged for the night. Apart from some basic quick check overs (and due to the weather) there was not much done with it.
The next morning it was delivered to the certification (govt depart) for registration in New Zealand.
Despite being told twice that the vehicle would be ready for collection that day it was delayed (this was again very frustrating) and was not ready for collecting until the next day.
Collected at midday the car was returned home and then washed and the first part of cleaning was underway.
After 5 hours it was time to stop.
I spent the night going through all the goodies that Sherry sent me including a dealers presentation folder, magazines on Bosak, the window sticker, the M10 presentation box (only things missing are the key chain and car cover so would love to know if anyone knows where you can get these from). Once again, Sherry went above and beyond!
Due to work and other commitments the car has remained in the garage since then.
It has had a catch can installed and sequential lights.
Further parts have been ordered.
Mopar stage 1 lowering springs (I have the good shocks not the novimats
so that's a bonus), splash guards and I am still waiting on the missing parts from the hood gas struts that I ordered so when they arrive I will put those on.
It will also get the predator tune after my trip.
It has been visited by many friends with lots of oooh ahhs (ha ha). Everyone is very impressed and being a little different than the regular Challengers definitely helps.
Today it will get its wax polish and final check.
Tomorrow it will go for its first true run from Invercargill to Christchurch and back (approx 400 miles each way as taking a scenic route).
I cant wait!!
So lots of cruising planned.
Still to order are long tube ceramic headers with non cat tubes (no emission controls here) so any advice on the best brad would be appreciated. I have checked the forums and are still no further ahead in my decision. And then finally one day, the magnison super charger.
I am still pretty sure this will be the only Mopar 10 in New Zealand (not sure for how long though as we love our American V8's in New Zealand and once it it seen I think others will start sourcing them also) and possibly outside the USA. But I am not 100% sure on that.
