Well, I am sure a lot of you are on "late model Challenger forums."
I am not. I have tried and I can't deal with them.
For those that don't know (which is pretty much all of you, lol), I started Amarillo Area Mopars back in 07. It is a local car club open to any Mopar from any era and it is FREE. I don't believe in charging dues, paying to remove ads (I didn't run them forever), paying to have a badge or special feature on your profile, or anything along those lines...the best things in life are FREE and should stay that way.
I got on forumz with the intent of getting more info on the Challengers as I planned to purchase one and to answer questions folks had about a car show we had posted. I made the "mistake" one day of posting contact info for a local hotel (20% discount) and a link to a google map...That got me PM'd by a series of moderators, the post deleted, and then subsequent scornings from a few of the same moderators. I wrote it off, posted one more time to thank a member for helping me locate the M10 and was once more blessed out by moderators.
Forum members create the content that make a site great...not over zealous moderators acting on behalf of some sort of supreme administrator, needless to say I have not been back and won't go back.
I then tried Challengertalk...signed up, sent a PM straight to the administrator about posting videos with cruises, car shows, and the likes and was told that the logo on the title slide was advertising and it wasn't allowed. Well, I'm not going to take the time to make a special slide for every site under the sun, so I have never, and have no intention of posting.
If you read their "rules" they both stake claim to your content and quite frankly that probably has a lot to do with objecting to any "logos" especially if you don't pay (which seems to be the best way to secure your position within the community
I know that most of you are probably on one, or both, of those sites and like them...that is great. I wish that they were more laid back (never have that trouble on old school Mopar sites) and we could work with them to get the word out on this registry.
I will tell you right now that if anyone of you posts about this site, you will likely just get PMd by several moderators, ridiculed by a mob of paying supporters, and then banned. This site shouldn't be too hard to find and I hope we can build it up grassroots with word of mouth since the vast majority of late model Mopar sites seem to view everything as competition...it is really pretty sad in my opinion.
I hope that most of you wil enjoy this site and post here as often, if not more often, that those other sites. I will also mention I am 100% Mopar and do this for fun. Unlike some of the others I don't have a camaro registry forum, a mustang forum or anything else. It is AAM and Lone Star Mopars, which I actually started because I was so dissatisfied with the state of affairs on the late model Mopar sites.
By all means if you like those sites haven't run into issues, keep using them and enjoy them...I know I would if they were more open and focued on the cars and not so much on money...
This site will be here, won't cost you anything, and will hopefully be somewhere that you look forward to visiting and posting on regularly...Remember, the members are the ones that make a great forum, not the moderators and administrators!
