Just curious if anyone has successfully retrofit the 2015 Challenger projector beam headlights to older models? If you don't have HIDs, the factory offering is basically a slight step above sealed beams imo. I finally did kind of a "direct comparison" to my truck (01 Ram Off Road) and the truck wins by a significant margin.
I think the design of the Challenger (beaked nose, recessed headlights) has a bit to do with it, but the fact remains I still feel like the road illuminates about the same as it does as when I'm in the Charger, or Duster. I am actually pretty sure the upgraded halogens in the Duster would out illuminate the M10.
This is something I have said since Day 1, that I thought the M10s should have all come standard with HIDs.
The 2015 Challenger however brings a nice alternative...Projector Beam Headlights! I have no doubt these would be a huge step up and I like that the housing is kind of "black" (from what I have seen). If you factor in the led trim rings it becomes very enticing. I am up in the air about going with a factory set (haven't even priced them yet...I'd like to see them in person first), or just jumping aftermarket.
Obviously, I'd be retaining the factory headlamps to reinstall at a later date and pulling them now would keep the originals pristine. Give it about 10 years, even for a pampered vehicle, and the elements/condensation kind of take their toll on modern lamp housings. Convert the halos to Blue, Red, Silver and you'd have a "should have been there to being with" headlight set up! Front facing red and blue are pretty much illegal everywhere, but I use all my accent lighting for show etc. I'm honestly not sure I'd like the standard led halo anyway. The increased light output though...that would be nice!
Is anyone else thinking (or better yet...already made) about the upgrade? If you go that route, keep us posted!
