Lone Star Mopars

Amarillo Area Mopars will be hosting their 3rd Annual Chryslers in the Canyon on Saturday, October 15th, 2011.

This is a great event in an incredible setting and is one of the best Mopar shows you can attend.

We will meet up at the West Texas A&M University Events Center at 11 AM and cruise out to Palo Duro Canyon around 11:45. The only fee associated with this event is the $2 group rate entry fee to the state park, Palo Duro Canyon.

Once in the canyon we will have a photographer set up to snap pictures of you and your Mopar as you cruise down the hill and descend into the canyon.

As you hit the basin we will turn into the Pioneer Amphitheatre parking lot where the show will take place. As you come in you can get a picture in front of the Texas sign, and then park by era for the show. While you finish registering we will have food/bbq on site for your enjoyment.

We will allow time for folks to check out the cars and vote. As soon as the votes are counted we will present the awards, which we will once again be expanding this year. We usually have the opportunity to donate to a specific charity, with last year's funds going toward the Ryan Palmer Healing Garden.

I will also be set up to take an enter or exit video.

If anyone is coming in to make a weekend out of the event let us know when you'll be in and we will set something up for Friday and/or Saturday night as well.

This is one of the best All Mopar shows you can attend, and definitely the most affordable.

I am really excited to see what kind of a turn out we get this year. It could easily break the 100 mark! Great photo ops and awesome cars! Are we considering a Friday night early bird cruise and Amarillo tour?

Wild horses couldn't keep me away. We had a great time last year.

Yeah, if you plan to come, please chime in and let us know what you plan to drive...we are working to set up the awards etc and the better of an idea we have on attendance, the better we can tailor the awards for you

Here is some self serve car wash addresses for those traveling from out of town. There are three that are in close proximity of the hotel. The first is at 1710 S Western, the other two are on 45th ave, one is 3400 45th(just west of I27 on north side of street) other is 4604 45th(Between Western and Bell on north side of Street). For those that will need one in Canyon there is one between 8th and 9th Ave(just west of 23rd st). Also we are asking that if you are planning on making the event but have not RSVP'd please do so, that way we will know how much food to have available and we would love to know what and how many cars we are going to have. The Fifth Season Inn Located at 6801 I 40 W has set aside room's for our out of town guest's for 64.00 a night plus tax. These are either 2 queen or a king Garden Atrium Room's. These room's have been renovated within the last 2 years. Also included in the rate is a Complimentery Hot Breakfast in the morning. Other amenities included indoor pool/hot tub and onsite lounge. There are several Resteraunts withing walking distance of the Hotel( Outback, Pizza Hut) and within a mile to the West there are other great dining choices(Saltgrass, Logan's,Country Barn, The Plaza) and Westgate Mall.
