This has been an ongoing project for the past 5 years with Deployments cutting into my time to work. It is an orginal BB car with 4 speed. No options what so ever. The build sheet shows zero options marked off. I bought this car in 1982 in Killeen, TX painted like the Dukes car (wrong year) as a drag car which was cut up to reduce weight. Car does not even have holes in the floor plate for seat belts. has been running a 440 since it was replaced during the early 70's. I have kept all the orginal parts, but I am turning this into a restomod with parts from a 2008 SRT Charger and adding all the things that will make it an enjoyable car to drive everyday. Orginally a Metallic Burgundy car, has gone from Orange to Torred to it current car of Plum Crazy.

I haven't made up my mind yet on the drive train as I have a 6.1 and a 440 to choice from. Starting to lean more to the 6.1 as I checked a 69 barracuda done by another member who has the 6.1 and 6 speed set up. drove it to Cali and back and he says great things about the combo.

Very cool...nice to have another 2nd gen on board! Are you going to keep the bumpers black? The DC.com guys will hate it...and will say you've got great taste as that is what I chose to do as well, lol.

You can make comparable power with the 6.1 to a mild 440, but if you mate it up with the tranny you'll have a very fun car to drive with great street manners.

The car looks great as is and would be fine with either form of motorvation imo.

Are you going to swap in the cluster/seats etc? Definitely keep us posted on what you decide on and any progress...it is going to be a very nice 68!

I just finished putting the 545rfe tranny in my 70 Challenger and it fits with only minor crossmember work if you buy street & performance 2" tranny lowering kit. Fully electronic shifting with 5 gears is gonna be sweeeet! I've just about got all drivetrain in and wired up, just need fuel tank and lines for fi. Waiting on rockvalley for the tank. I would go with the 6.1 if it were my choice. same power but twice (maybe more) the fuel economy.

I have the bottom rear installed now, haven't finished it up as I am missing the spacers and bushing for the quarter windows, so waiting on those before installing the rest of the panels and rear seat. This seat come out of 2008 Charger SRT8, had local shop (Nolan Creek) widen and use the actual brackets and frame from the 68 Charger. feels and looks great.

Man, that looks killer! It looks like a perfect fit and I like where you are going with the door panels.

Have you tried fitting the center console yet? This is something I've wanted to play with for the 69.
